40 weeks

No belly shot needed for the 40-week mark: Eamon Joseph Flynn arrived right as scheduled on August 17, 2008 at 4:04 p.m. He weighed 9 lbs, .07 oz and measured 20.5 inches. His entrance into the world wasn't an easy one--after 15 hours of labor, the poor little guy decided to arrive "sunny side up" which proved difficult as his shoulders and arms got stuck in the birth canal. It took an hour of hard pushing to get him to the point that our doctor could pull him out. But because of his position, that last pull ended up snapping his little humerus bone on his right arm. Not to worry, this injury is quick to heal if kept wrapped and immobilized. We're doing just that and already got the good news that the bones are on the mend.

Now nine days old, Eamon is up to 9.5 lbs and is giving us a million reasons to smile every day. So far, he's a sound sleeper--especially at night. He typically snoozes from 12:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. and then again from 6:30-9:00 a.m. Lucky us!

The 40 weeks leading up to Eamon's birth have been some of the most exciting of my life, but nothing can top the moments since he made his grand debut. I'm so happy to have such a beautifu.l and healthy baby boy!
