17 Months

Where has the time gone? I completely skipped month 16, yet it feels like last week I wrote Eamon's last update. He turned 17 months on the 17th, and is officially a big boy! He's now in mostly 2T clothes, a size 7 shoe, has a head of hair, and an ever-increasing vocabulary. He tries new words every day, usually mimicking what we say, and sometimes he chooses to use them again--other times, he sticks to what he likes best. Some of his favorite words:

Bubby--this is definitely his blanket, but also code for anything he loves: His pacifier, his sippy cup, his toys.

Thank You--he's been saying this for a while, but lately it's like every other phrase out of his mouth. What a polite kid!

Yo!--Always preceding the start of his latest obsession, Yo Gabba Gabba on Nick. Also code for yogurt, which he now eats an entire cup of, all by himself (spoon and all!).

Shoe/Sock--he loves finding his shoes and pretending to put them on, or to find our shoes and step into them.

Hi/Bye--We're trying to get him to latch onto two-word combos here, like "Hi, Mommy" or "Bye, Toys", but that's a work in progress.

Cookie--Always an easy way to get him out of a funk!

He's also taken to saying "see ya" (at times), plus all of the other standard words. The great thing is that he really loves to talk (when we're home, at least)--it just doesn't always make sense!

Here are some pictures taken within the past couple days, doing what he does best: Playing. You'll see he's currently into stacking his blocks, coloring with crayons, CATCHING balls (not just throwing them!), and just being a generally happy, funny, energetic kid.
